Never made Corn Bread before. First time trial. Argos.co.uk keeps throwing back frying pans when type in skillet. Found oven safe Meyer skillet on John Lewis website but thought 拢25 a bit much to spend on a pot!Want to try making Corn Bread. Recipe says best to use heavy skillet - will 20cmx10cm loaf tin do?
No not really. An iron skillet is ideal because in order to get the golden crust the pan must be preheated in a high heat oven with fat in the pan. A tin pan is not sturdy enough and may warp. Iron skillets season themselves and become better each time they are used. I keep one just for corn bread. Good luck.
