Toll House Cookie recipe on the back of a bag/ package of Nestle's choc. chips. Best ever, been making them for years...family favorite with or without nuts, your choice.
A friend gave me her recipe for chocolate chip cookies about 15 years ago -- these are so good, and make A LOT.

1 c. butter, room temp

1 c. brown sugar

1 c. sugar

2 eggs

1 t. salt

1 t. vanilla

2 c. all purpose flour

1 t. baking powder

1 t. baking soda

2 cups dry quick cooking oats

2 c. corn flakes

1 c. mini chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts

Combine all ingredients in a very large mixing bowl, blending well. Drop by teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Allow room between cookies, they will spread during baking. Bake 10 - 12 minutes at 375 degrees, or until light brown. Let cool on cookie sheet 1 minute before transferring to wire rack.
These were given to me from my great grandmother. They are sooooooooo good!!! Do not double the recipe will not turn out the same. What I do it make 2 batches in 2 bowls.

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup shortening

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

2 cups all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Combine flour, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, combine soften butter with shortening, sugar and brown sugar and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 min. Note: I take them out of the oven before they start to turn dark! Do not double this recipe, or they don't bake soft. Can make this recipe for bars too. Spread dough into greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake them at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 15-20 minutes.
The one from the back of the Nestle's semi-sweet chip bag. Hasn't failed me in 30+ plus years of baking.

Urban Legend Chocolate Chip Cookies

';You may have heard this story...a woman asks to buy a cookie recipe and is told it will cost 'two-fifty.' She thinks this means $2.50, but then she gets her credit card bill back and finds out it is $250.00. Outraged, she spreads the recipe far and wide to try and get her money's worth. I first heard this story 6 years ago and was given a recipe on a sheet of paper which bore the date '1986.' The supposed originator of the recipe was a well-known cookie company. I have since heard this tale again several times, with the recipe originating from different upscale department stores. True story? Who knows, but it's a darn good cookie. Here's my version.';
